I decided to read this book not to lose weight but to see if I could figure out what my blood type was based on his generalizations about what kinds of food are good and bad for the different types and what kinds of diseases and allergies people with the different blood types usually get. I then did a home blood type test to find out my type (based on my genetics it could have been any of the eight ABO and Rhesus types) and see if indeed my results corroborated with his.
They did not. According to his results, the type I have is more likely to get sick easily but far less likely to have allergies and in fact the opposite is true for me.
While before I knew my blood type I believed that perhaps blood types may play a small role in how our bodies react to outside influences like diseases, allergens and food, I now think that the role is so small that there is hardly any reason to care about blood types outside of blood donation and transfusion.
