 | Interesting and thought provoking Jun 7, 2010 |
There have been many books written over the years about Bible Prophecy, some good and some bad. Mark Hitchcock's book, "The Amazing Claims of Bible Prophecy", devotes the first half of the book to the Old Testament Prophecy which has come to pass. He clearly demonstrates how God is in control. Part two of the book deals with coming events, the rapture, the countries involved and the tribulation. I agree with the author, we are living in the last days and should open our eyes to the events around us. Of course there will be many skeptics who will not believe and that has also been foretold. The Late Great United States has also been written by Mr. Hitchcock and The Amazing Claims far surpasses it. The author has matured in his writing.
Although I am not a Bible Scholar, I have read quite a few books on prophecy. Each author demonstrates a different view or angle. Mr. Hitchcock's book is not a feel good, warm and fuzzy read. He does not paint the picture of a bright future but you can have peace if you are a believer. | | | | The Amazing Claims of Bible Prophecy May 17, 2010 |
Excellent book! Chocked full of Bible wisdom and knowledge. * Examines historical events that fulfilled Bible prophecy with amazing 100% accuracy. * Confirms the Bible is the true, inerrant Word of God. * Opens your eyes to current events that are lining up to fulfill Bible prophecy. * Names what countries are forming coalitions that were predicted in the Bible long ago. * Defines the Rapture and explains exactly what the Bible says will happen. * Explains there are no more prophecies left to be fulfilled before the Rapture can happen! * Tells what you can do to be ready. * Gain peace and comfort knowing that God is in control and has a plan and purpose. I highly recommend you read this book. it will enlighten you.
The Amazing Claims of Bible Prophecy: What You Need to Know in These Uncertain Times | | | | A balanced look at Bible prophecy May 14, 2010 |
Looking at the size of this book, someone might pick it up thinking it was full of prophetic ideas for the future of "our uncertain times". However, the first half of this book is devoted to clearly explaining Old Testament prophecy and exactly when it became fulfilled. It's not until the book is halfway finished that it starts to deal with current events. Mark does this as an attempt to prove the validity of the Bible, and how the prophecies in Daniel and other books came true literally. With that being the case, he then begins to tackle the unfulfilled prophecies of the Bible and how they should also be taken literally (since the fulfilled prophecies were so). There is a lot of historical information in the first half of the book, but it's hard to argue with the claims when they are so clearly spelled out.
When tackling current events, I was pleasantly surprised with how current this book really was. It deals with things as recent as December 2009, which isn't bad for a book that came out four months later. It would seem Mark's publisher really put this book on the fast track for printing, and I appreciate that. Mark's earlier book "The Late Great United States" was a good read, but was outdated by the time it came out due to the changing times.
Mark does a great job of clearly explaining things, and really tries to clear up the confusing parts of Revelation and Daniel by suggesting that many parts of the prophecies might not be figurative as we've been taught all our lives. Taken literally, the "army that comes from the abyss" like a plague of locusts really made sense as he explained them. He also brought out some things that were plainly in sight the whole time, but might have been missed by a casual read (for instance, the "famine" horseman actually only controls a fourth of the Earth according to Scripture, not the whole thing).
And for those wondering, yes, he does tie America into Bible prophecy. While I grew up wondering for years how Israel would stand alone in the battle of Megiddo when America has always been there for them, it's obvious today given our current administration's hostility toward Israel that they would very well stand alone if the time came for a fight against a hostile nation or nations. Mark shows where America could and probably will fit into the End Times (much better than he did in the earlier-mentioned "TLGUS").
You don't have to be a Bible scholar to appreciate this book. Even those curious laymen will come away with a lot of information. Just keep in mind that this isn't some cheery book. The future may not always seem bright, but the truth of the Bible promises hope for believers. | | | | dissapointed.. Apr 9, 2010 |
| i hold mark in such high regard so this is difficult to write. I never thought I'd give Mark any less than a 3 star review but I have to this time. I could go into detail but I'll spare everyone. In no way do I feel Mark has lost his touch. I will still buy & read his outlines but this outing's a dud. | | | Write your own review about Amazing Claims Of Bible Prophecy
