| I got this bible for myself 6 yrs ago and have been blessed beyond measure b/c of it. I've bought them for friends numerous times and have been told that they found them to be just as helpful. Joyce Meyer's insights and her personal words of knowledge from the Lord are captivating. I thoroughly enjoy reading the scripture, getting what I get out of it, and then reading her .02 to it. She has a way of making one feel built up and wanting to take ownership over our flesh so that we can glorify God and we should. I enjoy the amplied b/c it gives all the other possible definitions for the original greek and hebrew words so that nothing is lost in translation. Even my husband enjoys reading the The Enjoying Everyday Life Bible and that is a miracle!!! Thanks be to God for continually calling His children to Him especially when our hearts have become hardened to Him due to our disobedience. HE LOVES US no matter what we do or say. | I just recieved this Everyday Life Bible in the pink leather with gold edged pages. It is beautifully made and organized with readable print and helpful insights from Joyce Meyer. It is trully one of the best study Bibles I have seen in some time. I already have the NIV Life Application Bible, but this one in the Amplified version is a great help in grasping the meaning of the words. Have you ever installed a new program on your computer but it wasn't user friendly? You either didn't use the program due to the learning curve being too difficult, or you settled for less than average usage...
...Or maybe you got yourself one of those new fancy Blu-Ray players. The remote on mine has more buttons than a rocket ship - most that I will never use. The player has more angles that anyone can watch, and if you hook it up to Internet, you have more viewing options, or downloads or other "goodies."
...Or maybe a good friend (true story) tells you about a great book that you "must" read. You read it, or at least try to read the book but find the writing, well - the kind where you really have to look at each word to understand a single paragraph. Or you find yourself reading the words but thinking about walking the dogs, or cutting the grass instead.
Reading the Bible has always been a little, sometimes a lot, like all of the above and then some. I have 5 different versions of the Bible in my house, with my favorite being the John Maxwell Leadership Bible. Doesn't mean that I didn't struggle reading Maxwell's Bible - but I found myself wanting to open it up more often than not.
As was the case with my other Bibles, I got to the point where I just didn't want to read the Bible anymore. Why? Because I just didn't get the book. Reading Johns insight was great! But having to stop and ponder what this word, or that sentence in the Bible meant when it was written, what it means in this version, or what it means to `my' life grew old quickly.
I lost my job a few months ago and as is the case, the walls came falling down fast and thunderous. I found myself with too much time on my hands and found that when you aren't working, you can easily get lost in the vast world that the Internet has to offer.
One day when researching jobs I stumbled across a book called, "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer. That book led me to "The Everyday Life Bible" by Joyce. Sure, ok. There are hundreds of Bibles out there, I already have 5, I surely don't need another. But Joyce spoke to me while reading her last book, and for the first time in my life, I looked at things differently. I wanted more.
More of what? I didn't know. I knew I wanted lots of it, and as much as I could get---and I knew Joyce had it.
I could talk for an hour here what Joyce's Battlefield book did for me, did for my family, did for my sprit -- but I'll save that for another day. Instead, I will say that I purchased Joyce's Bible that very day that I found it; though spending $43 on my 6th Bible when I was unemployed was not as difficult of a sell as I would have thought.
The first week of reading this Bible was not easy. It was difficult. The Amplified version can be wordy and very repetitive is some sections, and because of that --- downright difficult to read, but I kept at it. I could have chalked this up as another Bible that just doesn't do it for me. Hold that thought.....
You see, though this Bible is wordy, thanks to Joyce; I now get it folks. I get why the amplified version was written in the first place (for people like me and you), and I get why Joyce has put her thoughts and life learning from cover to cover in this Book. Yes, for ME and for YOU!
I can't wait to pick this book up every morning and again at night - I simply can't. Joyce doesn't hold back. She calls it like it is, and she speaks to me. No she speaks to all of us. I LOVE this Bible and unless Joyce comes out with a new Bible 5 years from now, the 'Everyday life Bible' will be my last and only Bible I turn to. Joyce speaks to all of us throughout and makes the Bible, God, Christianity, Spirituality and daily living--- interesting, understandable and very very enjoyable.
