Item Description... Overview When Travis and Rebecca marry, rumors quickly spread that he has done so only for her dying father's ranch. Confused and convinced that Travis can never truly love her, Rebecca strikes out on her own. She disappears to make a new life for herself in a town far away, but her friends there are few, and life is hard. When desperate circumstances drive Rebecca home to Travis, she can see the change in the man she left behind. In her absence, he has grown from a rough-hewn cowboy to a confident rancher. Still, her wounded heart is hesitant. Is she more afraid to love--or to be loved? A tender story of commitment, faith, and unconditional love.

 | Ok, but Western romance has been done better... Apr 29, 2006 |
| First of all, I don't know any father who would command his daughter to marry a man who works for him. That said, my eyes rolled too many times to count especially when Travis and Rebecca interacted. Lori was a bit trite in describing their relationsip to the point where the word "tender" was overused . Also, I was bothered that she introduced characters from Pine Grove but had no follow through. At least the ending was fathomable. Lucky for Lori, I enjoyed her other books such as any from the Kensington series or the Californians (especially Donovan's Daughter). If anyone wants a good western romance, try Sigmund Brouwer's 'Sam Keaton: Legend of Laramie' books. Frighteningly enough, you can read about another cowboy who pines for a woman named Rebecca. But their romance is complicated and heightened by action and some great humor--all of which spans the length of 4 books. | | | | Disgusting! Jun 16, 2004 |
| I love Lori Wick's books and I loved the beginning of this book. Then Rebecca, who obviously didn't love Travis at all, leaves. I was thinking it would only be for a few weeks but she has the twins and stays there for 6 years! Her children become spoiled and she doesn't even think about Travis! I couldn't even finish the book! It was horrible! | | | | Good at points, bad at points. Jan 2, 2003 |
| The first point was very unexpected. I noticed that some events that happened in Book 1 also occurred in Book 2. When I think of a series, I think it is a continuous story. But, I will see what the other books in this series have to offer. There are also some slow times in this book, especially in Pine Grove. But, they are critical to the book because they let you in on feelings of Rebecca and Travis. I also didn't care for the ending too much. I was expecting something dramatic. The ending left several points open - will they be covered in the next book or will the next book have some of the same special events like Book 2 did after Book 1? Overall, it was a good book with a fairly happy ending. | | | | Loved It! Oct 5, 2002 |
| I absolutely loved this book even though there was one part I really didn't care for. That shows how much I enjoyed it. I believe Lori overdid it in the middle when Rebecca was raising the twins and was still apart from Travis, although I did feel it was quite cleverly written. I truly enjoyed reading and seeing how Rebecca changed and grew as a person after she returned home to Travis. I do highly recommend this. It is truly one of a kind. | | | | Nothing Too Surprising Here Jun 18, 2002 |
| In the second book of the "Rocky Mountain Memories" series, Lori Wick has crafted a romance with a few different twists than "Where The Wild Rose Blooms" (the first book in her series). "Whispers of Moonlight" is the story of Rebecca, a 19-year-old who goes out West in 1870 to live with her father after being separated from him for most of her childhood. When she arrives at her father's ranch, she meets his foreman, Travis, who she quickly falls in love with. When Rebecca's father Andrew is on his deathbed, he asks Travis to marry Rebecca, since he wants to know that Rebecca is protected and loved. After their less-than-normal marriage, Rebecca runs away since she mistakenly believes that Travis married her just to gain her father's ranch. Years later, under dramatically different circumstances, Rebecca returns. Travis still loves her, but Rebecca must decide whether or not her hesitance to be loved and her disagreement with Travis' newfound faith in Christ will stand in the way of his love. If you like Lori Wick you will probably like this story. There were definitely some good things about it. First, I really liked how it wasn't a perfect, predictable romance. The obstacles that were faced throughout the book made the hopeful (but not perfect) ending all the better. I guess you could say this is one of Lori's more realistic romances. It was also neat to see the changes in Travis when he accepted Christ, and I enjoyed "meeting up" with characters from the previous book in this series. Two stars were deducted for two reasons. First, Lori's writing and descriptions need some work since they sound unnatural and "hokey" sometimes. Second, the story had some "slow" parts when Rebecca wasn't living with Travis and focused on some romances that really didn't interest the reader during that time as well. Still, anyone who enjoys a sweet, cutesy Christian romance will enjoy "Whispers of Moonlight." | | | Write your own review about Whispers of Moonlight (Rocky Mountain Memories #2)
